Your Support Changes the Face of Science
At iPraxis, we believe every young person deserves access to world-class science experiences — regardless of their zip code. With your donation, we bring real scientists, real labs, and real discoveries directly to students who might never otherwise encounter them.
What We Accomplished This Year
In 2024-25, iPraxis reached 305 students across Philadelphia and the surrounding region through hands-on science programming, mentorship, and career exposure.
Mentoring at Alain Locke Elementary — Over nine sessions, we partnered with the American Society for Microbiology to engage 158 students ages 6–14 in a Handwashing GloGerm Experiment and Microscope Activity, making the invisible world of germs tangible and exciting.
BETA Day — Bioengineering Comes Alive — 45 students from Baldi Middle School and Gateway Regional High School visited Penn's Bioengineering Lab, where they heard from a Penn researcher, conducted a spherification experiment, and tackled an engineering design challenge centered on drug delivery.
A Day at CERN — 27 Girard College 7th graders virtually toured CERN's ATLAS detector, built electromagnets, and learned about particle physics from a University of Pennsylvania graduate researcher.
Mastery Charter School Science Fair — iPraxis volunteers judged the science fair, supporting 50 students ages 5–17 in presenting their research.
Green Woods STEM Career Day — 25 eighth graders met five working scientists and engineers spanning neuroscience, pharmaceuticals, chemical engineering, and bioengineering.
By the Numbers
- 305 students reached across all programs
- 21 Scienteers (student mentees) enrolled across 5 programs
- 9 school and community partners engaged
- 10+ volunteer scientists and engineers giving their time
Why It Matters
The students we serve are overwhelmingly from communities that are underrepresented in STEM. Many have never met a scientist, stepped inside a research lab, or imagined a career in science as something meant for them. iPraxis changes that — one experiment, one mentor, one breakthrough moment at a time.
When a 7-year-old holds a UV light over their hands and sees that soap really works, something clicks. When a 13-year-old virtually walks through the ATLAS detector at CERN, a door opens. These are the moments your donation makes possible.
